With a booth size of 338 square meters, Haimer GmbH is more present than ever at this year’s EMO 2015 show in Milano (hall 6, booth L08/M03): for Italy and the European market. Its Italian subsidiary HAIMER Italia Srl, located close to Milano in Bernareggio, was founded in 2014 and has already been able to achieve considerable success in sales, is now looking forward to EMO Milano.

Next to some new innovations, the European market leader in the area of tool holding technology will also present its already established and wide-ranged product portfolio, consisting of highly precise tool holders and practical special machines

The visitors will be able to experience all HAIMER shrinking and balancing machines live. This includes the high-end-version Tool Dynamic Automatic, a CNC-based machine for automatic balancing, as well as TD 800, a machine suited for balancing big rotors and grinding wheels. The Cool Flash system will be one of the booth’s highlights, as within the last four years it has attracted more and more customers. Cool Flash can be optionally applied to HAIMER Shrink Fit Chucks and it ensures that even at a high rpm the coolant is transported directly to the cutting edge.

For many years now the HAIMER Safe-Lock™ system, a patented pull out protection for endmills, has proven to be a very successful invention. Due to its growing spread Safe-Lock™ is considered to be the new standard for roughing and heavy machining. Also for new milling strategies such as trochoidal applications, Safe-Lock™ is about to replace the outdated Weldon clamping system. Safe-Lock™ brings together the highest runout accuracy, process reliability and pullout protection. Leading tool manufactures such as Walter Tools, Widia, Sandvik Coromant, Seco Tools, Sumitomo, Kennametal, Helical, Emuge Franken, Data Flute and Niagara have already decided for this system and became license partners. And the numbers are increasing. Not long ago the OSG Group, the Japanese market leader in the area of solid carbide endmills, has started offering their high performance solid carbide endmills together with the HAIMER Safe-Lock™ system.

Another highlight will surely be the final version of Duo-Lock™, a modular interface for solid carbide milling heads. The announcement of the Duo -Lock™ partnership between HAIMER and Kennametal in 2014 and the presentation of this system were followed by elaborate in-house-tests for each diameter and external field trials with customers from different industries. Just like the Safe-Lock™ system, the patented and trademark protected Duo-Lock™ is offered to other tool manufactures via licensing model in order to establish a compatible high performance standard. At the end of this year the Duo Lock™ products will be available on stock.

Furthermore, HAIMER customers can count on new and innovative products in the area of heavy duty machining. A new Heavy Duty Collet Chuck is going to celebrate its world premiere and at the same time, the new HAIMER solid carbide tool portfolio is going to be extended by a number of geometries and designs. In order to provide an Italian flair at EMO Milano, HAIMER is going to machine aluminum Espresso cups on DMG MORI HSC 30 – of course with the use of HAIMER Power Mill tools and HAIMER shrink fit holders.

Haas Automation will take centre stage at the forthcoming EMO 2015 exhibition, the largest event of its kind in Europe. Taking place in Milan, Italy on October 5th – 10th, the US-based company will use EMO to exhibit a number of high-performance, competitively priced CNC machine tools, as well as the Haas F1 car, which is on schedule to make its debut in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship, in 2016.

Haas machines differentiate themselves from the competition in many ways, not least the high quality, affordable components with which they are built. To help convey this message, visitors to the Haas stand at EMO will be able to see inside the machines, seeing for themselves how they work, how they are constructed and their inherent build quality. There are no secrets or hidden surprises when buying a Haas machine – transparency for customers is of paramount importance.

Among the new machines on display will be the Haas UMC-750SS, a Super-Speed version of the company’s popular universal five-axis machining centre. The UMC-750SS is a five-axis, 40-taper model equipped with a 15,000 rpm inline direct-drive spindle, a high speed 40+1 tool side-mount tool changer, and Haas Automation’s powerful, high speed machining software. It offers travels of 762 x 508 x 508 mm, 30.5 m/min rapids and an integrated high speed, dual-axis trunnion table.

Also at EMO will be the newly developed Haas DM-1 high-speed 40-taper drill/mill centre. The inline direct-drive spindle turns to 15,000 rpm, and allows high-speed rigid tapping. Furthermore, the spindle is coupled directly to the motor to reduce heat, increase power transmission, and provide excellent surface finishes. The DM-1, which offers a 508 x 406 x 394 mm work cube, provides cutting feed rates to 30.5 m/min for high speed milling, while the machine’s 18+1 side-mount tool changer swaps tools quickly to reduce non-cutting time.

EMO visitors will also be drawn to the new ST-15 big bore turning centre. The machine now provides a maximum cutting capacity of 356 x 406 mm, with a swing of 406 mm over the cross slide. For shops wanting additional capability for secondary operations, a Y-axis version of the ST-15 is also available. The ST-15Y has the same footprint and specifications as the ST-15, but with a maximum capacity of 305 x 406 mm.

Aside from the machines, another star on the stand will be the Haas F1 car. As fans already know, the technical partner of the Haas F1 Team is Scuderia Ferrari, located just 200km from EMO 2015, where the new chassis is undergoing vigorous wind tunnel testing.

EMO 2015 takes place at the Fieramilano exhibition venue and is open from 09:30 to 18:00 each day of the show.

This morning in Rome there was the official presentation of EMO MILANO 2015, the world exhibition of machine tools, robots and automation, which will take place at Fieramilano from 5 to 10 October 2015, in conjunction with the great Universal Exposition EXPO.

1,600 exhibitors, 150,000 visitors, representing over 100 countries, more than 120,000 square meters net of exhibition surface: these are the figures expected and illustrated by Pier Luigi Streparava, General Commissioner of EMO MILANO 2015, during the presentation also attended by Luigi Galdabini, President of UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, the Association of machine tool, robot and automation manufacturers that is organizing the event, Andrea Meloni, General Manager for the promotion of the country system, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Luongo, General Manager of ICE (Italian Institute for Foreign Trade) and, finally, Giorgio Squinzi, President of CONFINDUSTRIA (Italian Industrial Federation).

Alternately hosted by Italy and Germany, EMO is the main exhibition for the international operators of the manufacturing industry, who will meet in Milan next autumn, coming from all over the world for a six-day, full-immersion event among the novelties proposed by the major worldwide players. In the halls of fieramilano Rho-Pero the largest factory in the world will be set up. There will be a wide range of products on display: machine tools, robots, automation, additive manufacturing, mechatronic solutions and auxiliary technologies.

To date, over 110,000 square meters net of exhibition surface have already been booked; if the trend of applications to exhibit at EMO remains on the levels registered up to now, the event, for which the whole exhibition fairground fieramilano Rho-Pero has been reserved, may exceed 120,000 square meters. More than 1,300 companies have already sent their applications to exhibit at EMO MILANO 2015. On top of the ranking are the Italians, closely followed by the Germans; the Taiwanese rank third with regard to the number of participations, followed by the Chinese and the Swiss.

On the scene there will be the best of a sector which today is worth 64 billion euro (world production), however likely to increase in a strong way already in the next three years, driven by the recovery of the world consumption of production systems.

According to the figures processed by the international, econometric Institute Oxford Economics, after a period of general recession, starting from the present year, the world consumption of machine tools will grow again constantly to achieve 71 billion euro in 2018 (+18% versus 2015).

Even if all the main industrialized areas will be involved, the increase in the demand for machine tools will not be uniformly distributed.

Asia is and will confirm to be the most important area with regard to consumption of production systems. Even the increase expected in the period 2015-2018 will be higher in comparison with those attained in the other areas of the world. In particular, the Asian consumption will grow from 34.8 billion euro in 2015, to 42.3 billion euro in 2018 (almost a double value versus 2008), thus recording a 21.6% upturn.
The Asian consumption rate on the total world consumption amounts to 58.1%, in 2015, and in 2018 it will almost reach 60%.

Europe, second consumption area, will report a growth in the demand for machine tools from 14.8 billion euro in 2015 to 17.2 billion in 2018 (+16.2%).

The European consumption rate is slightly decreasing on the worldwide total: 24.8% in 2015, 24.3% in 2018.
In the Americas the consumption will rise from 10.2 billion euro in 2015, to 11.4 billion in 2018 (+11.8%)
In comparison to Europe, the reduction of the consumption rate in the Americas on the worldwide total, is more evident: it will decrease from 17.1% in 2015, to 16.1% in 2018.

In 2018, China alone will take up 45% of the world consumption of machine tools.

In the European panorama, Italy proves to have greater sprint compared to the whole area and to Germany with which it shares the title of leading country not only in the sector, but also in the whole manufacturing activity. In particular, the consumption of machine tools only will increase from 1.6 billion euro to over 2 billion (+23%).

On the other hand, internationally, the Italian industry of the sector ranks fourth among the manufacturers and third among the exporters. Also for this reason Italy is the only country, – along with Germany – to host EMO that, for this edition, opens under the best auspices, considering the already started recovery.

A confirmation of these good prospects is given by the recent data processed by Centro Studi & Cultura di Impresa (Studies Dept. & Business Culture) of UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, according to which also Italy is investing in machine tools again, as a demonstration that the Italian manufacturing industry has taken the route of recovery.

In 2014, the index of orders of machine tools collected by the Italian manufacturers has indeed shown a 14.7% average increase versus 2013. The outcome has been determined by the positive trend of performances on the foreign market (+10.1%), as well as by the excellent results of the domestic market (+37.2%). These figures are confirming the beginning of a new period of development that will materialize in stronger and stronger increases, to the complete benefit of those who will take part in EMO MILANO 2015.

  • The surface covered in 2009 has been exceeded;
  • Ahead with this trend 120,000 sqm can be reached.
  • More than 1,300 companies registered in march: italy leads the ranking followed by germany and taiwan.

Six years later, EMO, the worldwide exhibition of machine tools is back, promoted by CECIMO, the European Association of the Machine Tool Industries. The tradeshow will take place from 5 to 10 October 2015 in the prestigious fairground centre of fieramilano.

The biennial travelling exhibition, EMO – whose mark is owned by CECIMO – has chosen Milan as its only location alternating with Hanover: this is a confirmation of the efficiency of the organization apparatus relying on a long-standing experience in the organization of events and of the expertise of the Italian industry which ranks fourth worldwide for production and third for export.

110,000 square meters of net exhibition surface have already been booked seven months before the opening of EMO MILANO 2015. Well in advance, the threshold of 95,000 sqm of exhibition occupied by the last edition of EMO MILANO (2009) has been exceeded. Should this trend be confirmed it is reasonable to assume that the exhibition will occupy 120,000 sqm.

More than 1,300 companies registered at EMO MILANO 2015. The leaders in the ranking of the companies which already registered are the “masters of the house”, Italians, closely followed by the Germans; the Taiwanese are ranking third for the number of applications in the tradeshow, followed by the Chinese and Swiss exhibitors.

The halls of the fairground of fieramilano Rho-Pero will host the biggest factory in the world, where machine tools, robots, automation, additive manufacturing, auxiliary mechatronic and technological solutions will be exhibited, as the expression of the international production of the sector, representing an industry that accounts for 64 billion euro.

“EMO has always been considered the most important event at the disposal of trade operators from the world’s manufacturing industry to keep up-to-date on the new production technologies” – states Pier Luigi Streparava, appointed by CECIMO as Commissioner-General EMO MILANO 2015 – “It’s exactly for this reason that we decided to include additive manufacturing into the technological index of products of the world exhibition of the sector: this is one of the technologies that will be more developed in future and to which the tradeshow will dedicate a special in-depth focus”.

150,000 visitors from about 100 countries: these are the figures expected for EMO MILANO 2015, edition which will also take advantage of the concurrence with EXPO 2015. On this occasion Milan will show a completely renovated look and an improved traffic flow, even thanks to a revised and strengthened public transport service.

Directly connected with the exhibition centre of fieramilano Rho-Pero, the website of Expo 2015 will offer the trade operators of EMO MILANO 2015 a lot of attractions for a unique programme of fringe events. In this respect, the concurrence of the two events will create really interesting synergies for the hundreds of thousands of visitors who will be coming to Milan from every corner of the globe.

“As organizers of this exhibition – goes on Pier Luigi Streparava – we are committed to transforming the concurrence of the two tradeshows into real opportunities for our operators, by planning “connection activities” and by activating numerous special services. An example is the programme Hospitality which timely lists a large range of accommodation solutions reserved for the trade operators that will take part in EMO MILANO 2015”.

“From last December we have indeed activated a lot of agreements which allow, through the website of the exhibition www.emo-milano.com, the booking of accommodation solutions in and around Milan before, during and after the exhibition period; in addition to this there is also a parking reservation service – concludes Pier Luigi Streparava”.

“On the other hand, after a particularly critical 2013, the year 2014, – which marked the trend reversal by showing a growth in production (+4.6%) and consumption (+18.2%), – will launch a new period of development for the consumption of machine tools in Italy. This will actualize with stronger and stronger increases: +4.6% in 2015, +5.9% in 2016, +8.1% in 2017 (Oxford of Economics figures), to the benefit of EMO MILANO 2015 and of those who will participate in the world exhibition” – points out Alfredo Mariotti.

Updated information, special services for exhibitors and visitors, the video advertisement and one of the music tracks of the collection EMOTION 2015, the CD made to promote the event, are available on the website www.emo-milano.com.

EMO MILANO 2015, the global exhibition dedicated to the metal working industry which is going to be held at Fieramilano from October 5 – 10, made its debut on the international scene.

The exhibition, meant to be a reference point for all those who operate in the world manufacturing industry, was previewed Wednesday, September 10 in Chicago where IMTS, a key sector-based fair for the US market is currently taking place.

The presentation of EMO MILANO 2015 was held during the Italian Machine Tools Conference Dinner at IMTS, an initiative organized by UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, the Italian machine tools, robots and automation manufacturing association together with ICE, the Italian Institute for foreign Trade with the aim of promoting the Made in Italy of the sector within one of the most prosperous and interesting market, namely the US one.

Nearly 200 guests including representatives of Italian and foreign machine tools manufacturers as well as US user companies plus local media and institutions participated in the event. The event was also attended by: Chandra Brown, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Manufacturing at International Trade Administration US, Carlo Calenda, the Italian Vice Minister for Economic Development, Luigi Galdabini, president of UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, Roberto Luongo, ITA’s CEO, Adriano Monti, Consul General of Italy in Chicago, Adam Pollet, Deputy Director Illinois Office of Trade & Investment, Pier Luigi Streparava, General Commissioner of EMO MILANO 2015, Douglas Woods, President of AMT, the US association representing the machine tool industry, Jean-Camille Uring, chairman of CECIMO, the European association of the machine tool industries.

Ranking fourth in the international production and third in the exports, the Italian industry has always boasted a top-notch position on the international scene.

With 400 companies, and a production value of 4.5 billion euros (2013 data), the Italian machine tool, robot, and automation system manufacturing industry has an even higher economic importance for the Italian country as a whole: it contributes in fact to the national GDP for 7.2 billion euros, if we take into account, in addition to the production side, also the sale of parts, tools, numerical controls, and machine servicing.

Particularly prone to export activities, to which 75% of the overall production is addressed, the Italian industry sees the US as one of its most prosperous and thriving markets. Indeed, with 400 million of machines sold and some of the best performances ever realized, in 2013 the United States turned out as the second most important export market for the Italian industry.

“The interest expressed by the Italian manufacturers for the US market – declared Luigi Galdabini, president of UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE – has been also confirmed by the presence of nearly 60 Made-in-Italy brands at IMTS, an international spotlight for all manufacturing operators”.

“Also because of this – said Pier Luigi Streparava, General Commissioner of EMO MILANO 2015 – IMTS traditionally hosts the official presentation of EMO whose next edition will be held in Italy in conjunction with the final part of Expo”.

Thanks to its machines “for building the future”, as stated in the exhibition’s slogan, EMO MILANO 2015 will be the biggest factory situated in an exhibition center whose pavilions will host the best innovations coming from the world market-related industry.

“On the other hand – Pier Luigi Streparava concluded – the enhancement of world economy alongside with the increased consumption of machines foreseen by Oxford Economics for Europe and Italy will give an additional boost to EMO MILANO 2015, facilitating those who will attend the exhibition in October 2015”.

In particular, global consumption is due to reach 59.4 billion € in 2014 (+ 3.8%), 64.3 billion in 2015 (+8,3%), 69.6 billion € in 2016 (+8,2%) and eventually 75 billion in 2017 (+8.3%).

In Europe, the increase in demand will be marked by a constant, though less impressive positive trend. Italy will register a remarkable increase in machine tool consumption, with growth rates above the European average. In particular, consumption will go up 2.5% in 2014, 5.6% in 2015, 7.3% in 2016, and 8.3% in 2017.
