AMADA WELD TECH announces the availability of the Jupiter series of modular systems for precision joining, available for laser welding, laser marking, resistance welding, micro arc welding, and hot bar bonding applications. Jupiter modular systems can be equipped with all joining process modules available from AMADA WELD TECH to provide solutions to customers.

With the Jupiter series, customers purchase an automation platform from a global joining equipment leader and receive intensive process development support in AMADA WELD TECH application development centers. Joint early stage process development in AMADA WELD TECH labs ensures that customers receive the ideal system solution for years of high-quality production. Any welding, soldering, bonding, brazing, laser micromachining, and laser marking application can be handled by equipment in the Jupiter series.

The Jupiter modular system platform is a flexible system that comes in four sizes, so it is adaptable to specific production requirements. The stable platform enables connections of very high quality and accuracy. The modular design is configurable to fit all process components and modules. The Jupiter models feature an ergonomic system design with high quality components, designed for 24/7 continuous production. All models are equipped with a human-machine interface (HMI) with touchscreen for easy programming and standard safety features.

Control systems, based upon a programmable logic controller (PLC) or industrial PC, collect all available process parameters and process data into one control system. The data can be stored in local and remote storage areas, all engineered to seamlessly integrate with an Industry 4.0 factory concept.

Optional features for the Jupiter systems include a combustion suppression unit (CSU) for battery pack welding; a transport system with two individual belts that can be configured for a wide range of product carriers, including transfer systems; an automatic cleaning station for electrodes and thermodes; a “Not OK” bin to separate products outside the control limits from those within control limits; and a range of water cooling options. Also available are upgraded data collection and traceability functionalities, including a barcode reader or a label printer; and interfaces for a variety of robotic systems.

AMADA WELD TECH offers its expertise to all of its customers to correctly match any welding, soldering, bonding, brazing, laser micromachining and laser marking application inside the Jupiter series.

The Japanese machine tool major is showcasing its award winning fiber laser cutting machine ENSIS 3015 AJ and an ultra -high precision compact bending solution at the ongoing IMTEX 2016 at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre, Bengaluru.

Technologies AMADA is showcasing:

ENSIS 3015 AJ Fiber Laser

AMADA FIber Laser CuttingThe new ENSIS AJ uses Amada’s proprietary fiber laser technology to process both thin and thick materials without a cutting lens change or manual setup. The 2kW fiber engine incorporates Amada’s ENSIS Technology that optimizes the laser mode and Beam Parameter Product (BPP) based on the material thickness being processed. The ENSIS AJ achieves high-speed cutting in thin material, a key capability of fiber technology, and the ability to process thick plate — a capability only achievable with 4kW CO2technology.

ENSIS 3015 AJ Fiber Laser Standard Features:

  • ENSIS technology allows for continuous variable beam control across
every thickness of material with no setup
  • 1.4g acceleration over the entire work area
  • Cutting speeds over 4,700 ipm
  • Automation-ready
  • Energy efficient

HG 1303 Press Brake

AMADA Press BreakWith models varying in capacity from 50 -170 tons, Amada’s new HG press brake series can handle a full range of material thicknesses in bend lengths from 55 to 168 inches. Equipped with a newly-developed AMNC 3i (intelligent, interactive, integrated) control, the HG series provides high-speed and high-accuracy with unprecedented ease of use. A 19″ multi-touch LCD panel ensures simplified operation. The user-friendly screen is designed for intuitive operation (similar to a smartphone) allowing for fast and efficient entry even if an operator lacks experience. Enhanced database network features provide better communication between the CAM program and the AMNC 3i — resulting in less manual interaction and faster processing.

Additional features of the new HG series include:

  • Bend Indicator technology ensures high-speed and high-precision.
  • AMTS tooling provides the ideal solution for multi-stage bending.
  • Independent L-Axis (L-Shift) provides the capability to bend a wide variety of part shapes.
  • Standard emergency safety features such as an emergency shut-off button on the controller panel, an interlock (OFF mode), stopped axis movement when guard is opened and a laser guard device.

At the Board of Directors’ meeting held on 27th October, 2014, DMG MORI SEIKI CO., LTD (“DMG MORI”) has decided to take over the lathe division of AMADA MACHINE TOOLS CO., LTD., a subsidiary wholly owned by AMADA CO., LTD. (“AMADA”) as of April 1, 2015. The takeover price is to be determined through further negotiations and will be announced as soon as it has been determined.

The lathe division of AMADA started when WASINO KOGYO CO., LTD. (subsequently changed to WASINO MACHINERY CO., LTD. in 1960) started manufacturing and selling lathes in 1937. Then as a result of the business cooperation, it became a member of the AMADA group in 1978. Currently it is a part of the lathe division of AMADA MACHINE TOOLS CO., LTD. AMADA has developed numerous new products that are highly valued by customers as high-precision compact lathes. DMG MORI believes that it could further increase customer satisfaction with DMG MORI’s strong sales system and prompt services around the world, and would contribute to enhancing corporate value.

DMG MORI established DMG MORI WASINO, LTD., a company specializing in compact lathes, to succeed the Wasino brand. DMG MORI intends to manufacture compact lathes at the Nara Campus using existing facilities and by improving efficiency at the same time. DMG MORI intends to hire over 100 superlative employees for the development, manufacture, sales, engineering, and service of compact lathes to further satisfy customer requirements.

Scope of Takeover
DMG MORI intends to take over managerial resources such as business rights, intellectual property, products and spare parts related to the lathe division of AMADA MACHINE TOOLS CO., LTD. Furthermore, DMG MORI intends to newly hire employees from the current employees of AMADA MACHINE TOOLS CO., LTD. to the extent necessary to continue the business of the lathe division. As soon as the scope of the takeover (management performance, items and amount of assets and liabilities as well as the accounting impact of the division) is determined, the details will be announced immediately.
