The main reference fields for Mandelli are the Aerospace and Energy Sectors characterized by hard materials and complex shapes, often requiring both milling and turning operations. The machining of rough work-pieces, usually consisting of plates to be machined from a solid or forged block and work-piece castings with high allowance rates to ensure the absence of flaws in the material, requires very stable machining centers for high stock removal during roughing operations, high dynamics and accuracy in the finishing of complex profiles.

Mandelli’s answer is the Multitasking Machining Center, capable of automatically switching from rotary tool operations to processes, which are typical of a vertical lathe. The Mandelli tradition in Multitasking Machining Centers dates back to 1992 with the construction of the M8 U/T followed by the Storm 1400 equipped with tilting head. Today, the new SPARK milling/turning models have been designed and built, treasuring Mandelli’s entire experience focusing on a fixed table solution to provide top level performance in terms of stock removal and accuracy. The large guide-ways with recirculating roller bearings together with the optimized FEM structure permit the combining of dynamic and rigidity features during machining.

The Spark Line, which includes two turning models ranging from a Ø1600 to a Ø2000 swing and up to 7000 kg max load, can also be equipped with an A/T tilting head. This version has recently been enhanced with several automatically loadable accessories making turning operations possible up to a depth of over 600 mm thus increasing even more the machining flexibility.

This type of configuration produces excellent performances in terms of stock removal volume and machining precision. The large size rolling guides and the FEM optimised structure are the perfect match between dynamic features and machining rigidity. The Spark Line includes two turning models, respectively able to hold components with Ø1600 and Ø2000 swings and have a loading capacity of up to 7000 kg. The Spark A/T has recently been equipped with various accessories which can be loaded automatically and which further improve the machining flexibility: an extension for turning operations up to a depth of over 600 mm, an angular head for the drilling of internal diameters, motorisation for the facing tools. All these options are available with automatic tool change on the actual accessory.
