BIG KAISER introduces a series of new micro engraving cutters developed and built by their partner Sphinx (Derendingen, Switzerland). Building on Sphinx’s micro tooling expertise, including its renowned line of micro drills, the solid carbide engraving cutters’ sharp, positive cutting geometry promotes burr-free surface finishes and smooth transitions.

The engravers come standard with a Ø3mm shank and are available in a variety of angles (30°/40°/50°/60°/90°) and in two possible point geometries—flat or radius tipped. The radius cutters range from .0016″-.0039″ (.04mm-.10mm), and the flats range from .0008”-.0059” (.02mm-.15mm).

The micro engraver are appropriate for work in most materials ranging from alloyed and unalloyed steels to thermosetting plastics, and even titanium. They are an excellent addition to BIG KAISER’s existing micro cutting tool lineup of pilot/spotting, high performance, drill reamers, deep-hole and end mills from Sphinx.

KAISER Precision Tooling has determined to strengthen its partnership with its long-term partner, BIG Daishowa Seiki Co Ltd of Japan, and agreed to become a company of the BIG Daishowa group as of April 15, 2015.

KAISER Precision Tooling is the leading supplier of high-precision modular boring tools. The company was founded in 1948 by Heinz Kaiser and is owned by the families of the second generation. The two companies have had a close technology and distribution partnership since 1980. BIG Daishowa produces KAISER boring tools under a license agreement and sells under the brand BIG Kaiser in the Asian market. In June of 2003, BIG Daishowa expanded its strategic alliance to KAISER’s North American operations near Chicago, and that company was renamed BIG Kaiser Precision Tooling Inc.

“During the past 10 years, our partnership has steadily increased through the creation of two joint ventures in the U.S. and Germany and an exclusive distribution arrangement for BIG products in Europe,” says KAISER CEO Peter Elmer. “Today the distribution channels are practically grown together and the combined products are an excellent portfolio.”

Executive management will remain in place following the transaction, with Peter Elmer as CEO leading European operations, and CEO Chris Kaiser overseeing North American operations. The original KAISER facility in Ruemlang, Switzerland, will continue to have an integral role in the company’s worldwide R & D and manufacturing strategy.

The Smart Damper is a unique and dynamic damping system which eliminates vibration paving way for higher productivity.
It comes with built-in damping system with its amazing capacity of eliminating poor surface finish, out of tolerance and shorter tool life, thus boosting quality.

This tool incorporates a unique damping mechanism which functions as, both, counter and friction dampers. Its patent-pending counter weight maximizes the effects of the friction damper. The unnecessary and troublesome vibrations are effectively absorbed thereby enabling higher machining accuracy.

A standard holder without the damping system has a cycle time of 90 minutes. However, the Smart Damper consumes a staggering 10 minutes only. Therefore, this tool increases the productivity by almost 9 times. A standard holder cuts 0.1mm/Ø and 3 passes are required. Its smaller nose radius of insert acts as an impediment to speed. However, the Smart Damper completes the operation with only 1 pass, and its larger nose radius improves surface finish.

Speroni will also present its newest innovation, the benchtop MAGIS CNC. This tool presetter and measuring system is numerically controlled for operator-independent measuring results, in addition to fast, ?-precise axis positioning. Together with the optional Autofocus spindle, an operator can automatically execute measuring cycles, speeding up the measurement process and guaranteeing even more precision.
