Positive Multi Corners Milling Line Ideal Choice of Low Powered Machines

With the increasing popularity of small machining centers, TaeguTec has launched a new single-sided, positive seven-corner insert line that generates less cutting force.

As the new offering in TaeguTec’s milling line, the ChaseHepta insert generates low cutting force, achieves smooth machining and greater economy due to its seven corner and helical cutting edges.

Additionally, the ChaseHepta’s higher insert thickness means better resistance to shock and breakage; a feature that makes this tool overcome the primary weakness of single-sided positive inserts.

The new line is available in two geometries; the “M” type for steel and cast iron and the “ML” type for stainless steel and difficult-to-cut materials.

The line’s cutters have a 45 degree entering angle, a 3.2 millimeter maximum depth of cut and an 18 degree axial rake angle which lowers the cutting forces during machining.

Also, the ChaseHepta cutters are designed with an acute angle pocket for rigid clamping and have an interference free structure for side cutting or helical ramping.

They are available in end-mills (D32-50 mm) as well as face mill types (D32-125 mm) covering not only general face milling but ramping and profiling proving its advantage as a multipurpose tool.

During the testing phase of both chip breakers, ChaseHepta outlasted the competition. On stainless steel, TaeguTec recorded a tool life increase of 43 percent when the ChaseHepta “ML” chip breaker was applied versus a leading competitor’s similar offering while tests on cast iron using the “M” chip breaker recorded increases of 100 percent to 150 percent increase in tool life.

Rhino optimizes machining with new Inserts, Holders https://mfgtechupdate.com/rhino-optimizes-machining-new-inserts-holders/ Sun, 16 Nov 2014 19:00:20 +0000 http://mfgtechupdate.com/?p=2941 TaeguTec has expanded the Rhino Rush line with new insert designs and holders which cover a wider range of applications for various sectors. TaeguTec has expanded the Rhino Rush line with new insert designs and holders which cover a wider range of applications for various sectors.

To significantly reduce cutting forces that occur during the machining of steel and stainless steel materials in medium light to medium applications, TaeguTec has released the DNUX insert type for the RhinoRush family. Suitable for machining slender bar, thin-wall components, the DNUX’s high positive, high rake and inclination angle at the cutting edge works with much less cutting forces and vibrations than the existing ISO-DNMG inserts. As an added benefit, the DNUX line’s four cutting edges offers better economy and guarantees the same performance as the KNUX’s two cutting edges.

Furthermore, the new addition can be mounted on DNMG insert type RhinoRush tool holders, eliminating the need for separate tool holders.

Another highly productive and economical insert and holder set for the RhinoRush family, the WNMX series is designed for stability. The WNMX’s widened contact area is double that of the existing ISO-WNMG 06 millimeter series. The WNMX 06mm series demonstrates enhanced reliability over the ISO version as well as increased tool life under interrupted machining conditions.

The T-Holder clamping system is another new addition to the RhinoRush family, a tool that is widely known for its simplified mounting design, smaller size inserts and rigid clamping system.

Maximum stability through its strong clamping is made possible by two different types of holders: a hook lever type and a T-Holder Type clamping mechanism, both of which offer optimized tool life.

The T-Holder adds to the RhinoRush even greater stability for turning applications especially during high feed interrupted cutting rates. Its optimized clamping remarkably prolongs the tool’s life by creating double clamping forces for rigid clamping.

The RhinoRush T-Holder line includes external holders, boring bars as well as through coolant type boring bars.

Using two drills to machine a flat bottom hole can not only be time consuming but also increase the likelihood of errors. To resolve this issue while at the same time saving on downtime, TaeguTec has introduced a new geometry that makes hole making operations easier and hassle free. The hugely successful Drill Rush line has been extended with the introduction of a flat-face geometry head for flat-bottom machining of diameters ranging from 8 to 25.5 millimeters. This new product line eliminates the need to use a two-step process thus shortening cycle times and substantially increasing productivity.

To keep this drill head cost effective, TaeguTec has made it available for its current DrillRush line of bodies in the same size. Furthermore, the combination of the new flat-bottom drill head and DrillRush body offers excellent chip breaking while easily performing high precision flat surfaces. The new head is specifically, but not exclusively, designed for applications like bolt-hole machining which requires a nearly flat bottom hole.

These are also designed for machining on a wide range of work piece materials. Both the flat-bottom head and DrillRush body are coated with TaeguTec’s exclusive TT9080 PVD grade which provides high wear resistance, chipping resistance and prolonged tool life.

The combination of the new flat-bottom head and DrillRush body can be used with TaeguTec’s recently released chamfering rings that drill and chamfer in a single operation in order to optimize cycle times as well as inventory and tooling cost for improved cost effectiveness.
Another option available for the DrillRush are special plugs that have an internal thread for coolant connections used on lathes that can be pressed into the cavity on the back end of the shank.

TaeguTec has added the new BLMP 13 size to its Chase2Feed range of high-feed cutters. This extended range of insert and cutters can tackle machining applications of up to 2 millimeters in depth of milling during high-feed conditions.

The insert’s unique characteristics make it an excellent addition to the line which is specifically designed for heavy, die and mold, power generation and general industries milling applications.

The reinforced unique design and high rake angle offers better anti-breakage capabilities, while the reduced cutting load advantage over BLMP 12 provides for excellent chip evacuation.

Other positive attributes include its 7 mm thickness and unique pocket seat which allows for stable machining in high-feed conditions and its six cutting edges – an added benefit over the previous Chase2Feed offering that came with four cutting edges.

Overall, the Chase2Feed’s cost effective multiple cutting edges offer exceptional performance advantages in facing, shouldering, straight ramping, helical ramping and cavity machining. During product tests, the Chase2Feed BLMP 13 registered a 242 percent increase in tool life and a 578 percent increase in productivity over a leading competitor’s similar offering while machining a work piece made from tool steel!
