Creaform, a worldwide leader in portable 3D measurement solutions and 3D engineering services, today announced the release of Pipecheck 2.2, its new and upgraded pipeline integrity assessment software. When used with the new HandySCAN 3D scanner, Pipecheck 2.2 enables NDT service companies and pipeline operators to quickly and accurately perform evaluations of pipeline degradation and remaining service life.

“New and advanced software capabilities, when combined with the impressive performance levels of our next-generation HandySCAN 3D scanner, makes Pipecheck the fastest and simplest pipeline integrity assessment solution on the market. It represents a significant leap compared to the assessment methods traditionally used in the oil and gas industry,” said Jérôme-Alexandre Lavoie, Product Manager at Creaform.

Creaform also introduced Pipecheck Analyze, a new software module designed to address a parallel workflow for end-users. The advantages these two solutions provide users—efficiency and accuracy—can be experienced in numerous ways:

  • Pipecheck: A single software solution for pipeline corrosion and mechanical damage assessment.
  • Pipecheck Analyze: Use Pipecheck’s powerful, yet affordable, assessment tool for on-site analysis or from a remote location. For example, field technicians can now send acquisition data, acquired in a ditch, to be analysed in more detail by a pipeline integrity engineer.
  • Virtual pit gauge: A completely new algorithm ensures that users can benefit from all the scanned parent material. The optimized virtual pit gauge features the stability of a two-sided pit-gauge and flexibility of a one-sided pit gauge.
  • Surface merging: Pipecheck also gives users a brand-new method to optimize workflows when working on the same pipe joint with multiple units. Scans that share an overlap of targets can now be realigned together using their common targets—dramatically increasing productivity in the field.

Creaform, a worldwide leader in portable 3D measurement solutions and 3D engineering services, recently announced the release of VXremote, its remote access software application combined with Creaform-certified rugged tablets (7 in. or 10 in. tablets). VXremote increases users’ efficiency in the field by providing fast and easy remote access to VXelements, the 3D software platform that powers Creaform’s entire fleet of 3D scanning and measurement technologies.

VXremote enables users to better visualize real-time scanned data and change parameters—even when they are far from their laptops. VXremote is particularly useful when scanning large objects or when the scanning has to be performed in constrained or remote areas. Examples of reverse engineering and quality control projects with which the VXremote can provide remote scanning capabilities and improve efficiency—without sacrificing data quality—include:

  • Airplanes, cars, boats, trains, trucks
  • Refineries, pressure vessels and large diameter pipes
  • Industrial installations
  • Outdoor heritage, art, or natural objects
  • Rope access scanning

VXremote features a simplified process to connect the tablet to the computer and does not require users to have an Internet access to log into their accounts. In addition, as VXremote is optimized with VXelements, it automatically diagnoses connection issues and provides detailed messages to help resolve issues. VXremote is also architecture-ready for future updates.

At the same time as the VXremote release, Creaform announced the availability of a brand-new 3D scanner external battery. This optional battery helps users to use Creaform’s 3D scanners when access to electricity is unavailable or too far away, which ultimately increases mobility for outdoor applications as well as scanning large parts or products that are in remote locations.

Creaform, a worldwide leader in portable 3D measurement solutions and 3D engineering services, today announced the launch of VXmodel, its 3D scan data post-treatment software module. VXmodel enables users to finalize 3D scan data to use directly in any CAD or 3D printing software.

VXmodel is simple, yet powerful. It includes only the features necessary to complement CAD software. Because it is fully integrated with VXelements, Creaform’s 3D software platform, it eliminates the need for design professionals to open, learn and use third-party software for most applications. With VXmodel acting as an integrated bridge, users have all the tools they need to prepare their 3D-Scan files for CAD or 3D-print solutions in one easy-to-master, intuitive application.

Within VXelements, VXmodel offers several advantages:

  • Alignment: Use VXmodel’s tool to constrain 3D scans using datums/entities so that users can start their design processes on a strong foundation.
  • Geometrical entities and cross-sections: VXmodel’s highly flexible and user-friendly interface lets users quickly segment a mesh into all the primitive entities, cross-sections and surfaces required to complete the final CAD design.
  • Mesh improvement: VXmodel enables users to improve 3D scan meshes and make them more suitable for their CAD or 3D printing processes. A variety of sophisticated tools are available to ensure users have the perfect files before they begin their reverse engineering or 3D printing.
  • Mesh editing: VXmodel helps to modify the 3D scan mesh, making it watertight and quickly generating print-ready files.

At the same time as the VXmodel release, Creaform launched the revolutionary new HandySCAN 3D laser scanner, which has been completely re-engineered for optimum speed, accuracy and portability. In addition, Creaform released and two new versions of the Go!SCAN 3D white-light scanner , which provide unmatched fast and reliable 3D measurements, while offering the easiest portable 3D scanning experience on the market.
