{"id":5039,"date":"2015-04-01T03:56:30","date_gmt":"2015-04-01T03:56:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mfgtechupdate.com\/?p=5039"},"modified":"2015-04-01T03:56:30","modified_gmt":"2015-04-01T03:56:30","slug":"helitang-t490-milling-inserts-with-serrated-cutting-edges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mfgtechupdate.com\/helitang-t490-milling-inserts-with-serrated-cutting-edges\/","title":{"rendered":"HELITANG T490 milling inserts with serrated cutting edges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following the success of serrated cutting edge insert geometries for high-efficiency rough milling, ISCAR is applying this approach to HELITANG T490 indexable cutters by introducing a new milling insert: T490 LNMT 1306PNTR-FW.<\/p>\n<p>The new insert was designed for the standard pocket of T490-13 tools.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The serrated wavy cutting edges of the insert provide the following advantages:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Split (crush) chips into small segments<\/li>\n<li>Reduce cutting force and thus power consumption<\/li>\n<li>Increase cutter stability<\/li>\n<li>Improve chip evacuation<\/li>\n<li>Substantially improve performance of extended flute cutters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Due to the above-mentioned features, cutters carrying the new insert provide extra efficiency in rough milling, especially in the following cases:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Operational stiffness is low (high overhang, poor workholding, thin-walled workpiece, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Machine power is limited<\/li>\n<li>Chip evacuation is difficult in narrow slots or deep cavities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>T490 LNMT 1306PNTR-FW Insert for T490-13 Milling Cutters<\/strong><br \/>\nThe double-sided tangentially clamped insert with 4 cutting edges is intended for mounting on<br \/>\nextended flute cutters and also on face and endmills.<\/p>\n<p>In order to provide an overlapping effect and achieve optimal chip crushing, it is recommended to mount the inserts in alternating edge configuration on adjacent flute cutters<\/p>\n<p><strong>Main application<\/strong>: machining deep square shoulders and edging using extended flute<br \/>\nmilling cutters.<\/p>\n<p>The new insert is produced from ISCAR SUMO TEC carbide grade IC830.
